Circular Saw: An Ancient Successor of SAW!


Circular saw was the invented by one of the supreme authority in the history of the world, the Great Britain. It was in 1780 that the first circular saw was made and introduced. It was a lengthy process of test remodeling and finally the first circular saw appeared in the market in late seventeen century.

The name is given after the shape of the tool. It has a circular metal disc with sharp edges at the end. These edges cut through the material passed across them. The early circular saws were powered by kinetic water movement; in shape of giant water wheel.

All circular saws today are powered by electricity. The size of the tool depends on the size of the blade. Mostly large circulars saws are used and are powered by electricity. The smallest blade size use in saw mills is about one foot in radius. The largest blade is about 5 feet in radius. These are large cutters and cut gigantic wooden logs.

They are also available in small size. They run on dry cell batteries and are without cords. They are specifically designed to cut wood and are carpenter’s most favorite tool. These saw can adopt to cut other materials too. Replace the metal blade as required and cut desired material.

Smaller versions are used for designing, upgrading, remodeling and renovating homes. The form of circulars saws used for this purposes are the modified table saw or the traditional band saw. Both of these saws are predecessors of circular saw.

When playing with these tools you must be very careful. They hand but can be very dangerous if precautions aren’t taken. Wear eye and ear protections. Firm grip to minimize vibration kick back affect. Other standard safety measure must be taken or as advised in the use manual.
